Sorry for the Recipes

I had a day a couple weeks ago that I had a ton of time on my hands so I was typing in a bunch of recipes that would auto-post. Unfortunately, I didn't put anything else on the blog during this time, so it's just a bunch of Good Eats that this crappy blog has been spewing out at you. Oops!

As my Facebook friends know, Mircea asked me to marry him on July 3rd. It was a sweet proposal, a huge surprise, and I couldn't be happier to be marrying the man of my dreams. I do worry that everyone in the world is like "are you actually going to get married or freak out like a crazy biotch?" and I'll answer you that "yes, I'm going to get married and I'm putting a lot of effort into not freaking out". I'm not going to have someone else's wedding, which I was essentially going to do a couple years back. Mircea and I are doing what we want and including our friends and family when we return. Our current plan is to get married around the March timeframe at the Sandals resort in St. Lucia. We haven't booked anything, but that's what we're thinking. We're pretty excited and this is MUCH more our style. Dad wasn't too happy about the lack of church wedding at first, but I think he understands that the level of pressure I felt for something like that makes a crazy out of a Katey Pooh. Our intent is to throw a shindig when we get home, a casual sort of reception where we can share our happiness with friends and family. So that's that.

Our old house is almost done, which is great. Can't wait for it to be completely finished and hopefully we'll be able to sell it shortly. I have to laugh, our original planned completion date was DECEMBER 2008. Well, August 1, 2009 will have to suffice! Pray that we sell it quickly and for a decent price.

I hope everyone is having a great summer. We've got something big every weekend (except for two) between now and our Romania trip in mid-September, so it's an eventful summer-which is great. Usually we just park in front of the tv all weekend so this is a much enjoyed change.

Happy Birthday to the Love of My Life

Today is Mircea's 26th birthday (spring chicken that he is). I wanted to take a moment to share my love for him, though he never checks my blog and probably won't see it.
  • I love that we always laugh together about the stupid pictures of our "community areas" on every house we look at on the web. Like a picture of a twirly slide is going to make or break our decision.

  • I love that you love our pets as much as I do.

  • I love that you are always cool under pressure and help to calm my nerves with your peacefulness.

  • I love that you think Call of Duty is the greatest game ever created-and don't mind that I sit next to you playing the Sims2 all afternoon.

  • I love that we both think Picard and Data are fantastic Star Trek characters, and laugh at pretty much everything Data ever says.

  • I love that you clean the litter boxes more than I do, even though you whine about it, but come on, you're better at it.

  • I love that we both think the Coors Light/Coaches commercials are stupidly hilarious.

  • I love that we are buying a house together and taking the next step in our future together.

I love you with all my heart and soul and hope that you have a wonderful birthday! Hugs and kisses from Yukie and the Girls too.

Oy Vey

I have been such a bad blogger lately. I've been pretty busy at work and school (finals this week), and I haven't been focusing on fun as of late. I did post on my other blog about the fitness changes and goals I have for the next several months. I really need to get back to the "old Kate" because this Kate of girth and wideness is the Kate that I enjoy or respect.

I'm going to participate in a walk this weekend, so that will give me a little motivation. I'm meeting a friend of mine (Nikki) that I met last year at another race. We hit it off really well and may start exercising together on the weekends (we live about 45 minutes away from each other but there are good outdoor places in between.)

Lindsay spent the night on Friday, and we had a great time watching the Girls Next Door and playing the Wii. We also had fun making fun of Mircea, who came home after a night of drinking with a friend and acted like a nut job. A good time was had by all and I can't wait to see Lindsay again-I'm going to take advantage of the 3 years that she's in DC!

Other than that, things are going well. Tomorrow is the anniversary of my first date with Mircea. I can't believe it's already been a year since I denied him that first kiss on our date. Dream on boy!!! We're not going out tomorrow because I have my precious bowling league, but we're going to go out on Friday, for dinner, and probably go home and play Wii or watch a movie.

An update on our little Stinky/Squeaky. Her tumor is getting bigger and bigger, and she is really pretty unhappy. She doesn't appear to be in pain, but she is definitely not enjoying life as much as she used to. We're just giving her lots of hugs and cuddles, but we both agree that her time is getting pretty short.

The other cats are all happy and healthy. Yukie is enjoying his time outside. He has a little gray "friend" out there, that I have seen him fight with, but whom I've also seen him eating with, so Lord knows their relationship. He's taken to spraying in the house, though, so he may be spending a lot of time outside. Fernie and Lily are cute as ever. Both of those little furbabies have been playing under the Christmas tree and cuddling up on our new warm blankets. Silly girls!!

Ok, that's way more than I've written in a long time, but I'll have a recipe tomorrow and more to post soon.

I'm Alive, but Not Well

Things have been really hectic the last few weeks. I feel like I am spinning out of control with stress and worry and don't know how to get out of it. Work is stressful and I'm having a lot of trouble learning all the new stuff necessary to perform my job, school is tough and I have no idea how to do the math class I'm in, and I think I might be mentally challenged against learning. The one thing that was going well (Mircea) is not going so great right now. I'm just so stressed that I can't handle any little thing that comes my way. He has had a rough couple weeks too, punctuated by the death of one of his very close friends last week (while I was in Key West). I don't know how we can both get out of this funk and salvage our relationship. I'm going to start seeing my counselor again (June 12) who can hopefully help me with some of my emotional management issues. Sometimes I wish relationships were easy, and then other times I know they wouldn't be worth the heartache and searching if they were simple as can be. I just want to be loved, for who I am and what I offer. I talked to my friend Lainie today and she said "You lost your confidence, sweetie, and that's why you are so low" and she is so right. I don't have that confidence I had (for like 6 months total), so I'm not feeling good about myself or my relationships. Hopefully I can get out of this funk...at least the sun is out and bright and if I don't screw it up too badly I actually have a future.

Hey, it's Mircea...

So Sarah asked a pretty decent question: How do you pronounce Mircea's name? It's Meer-cha. As Robyn puts it "He's a meerkat doing the cha cha" and yes, that makes me laugh every time I think of her saying that.

I know that I've said a bit about him, but I don't want to be too "gushy" about him. I am absolutely crazy about this man and the best part of all is that the feeling is mutual. I've never been treated so nicely, NOR have I ever treated anyone with the kindness and respect that I treat him with. (So I'm not comparing him to anyone-got that!?!) He has taught me so much about what I want from a relationship and so much about how to give of myself as well. My life would have been very different if I'd learned that lesson earlier!

So enough gushing on and on about my handsome man. In just a few short days he'll be back in San Diego and I've got some fun things planned for him!

He's not a fireman, but who doesn't dig a guy in a uniform? I can finally see Patty's point about the hottie firemen...
